Would the split version of that identical board ride comparable? I’ve never owned a factory split so not sure if they lose something before I drop the cash for one. I have owned multiple lib tech and gnu solid boards over the years and I think that there splits ride really close to there solids. The differences that I have notice have been due to the difference in feel of the solid Union bindings that I ride compared to the Spark splitboard bindings. I feel that solid bindings cradle the boot more and provide more support, where as the Sparks are really low profile and have a looser feel. I think you will be very happy with a skunk ape if you like the way the solid version rides. With Karakoram bindings you probably wouldn’t notice too much difference. I prefer sparks and they ride great as well. I have had a handful of days riding chairs on hardpack with my lib split and had a good time. Due to the rocker profile my libs have not had as much grip and stability while skinning as my jones solution. That being said they still work great. In soft conditions not an issue at all. You may consider a high traction skin or even some crampons for certain conditions or terrain. Hope that helps. It’s way too flexible and I cracked it through the core yesterday, It’s early January and I have no split board. Think I may just pull the trigger. I wish Venture was making boards.
