Did not want to exclude our southern cascade and socal splitters so this thread will be all of California……….and western Nevada. Hell, why not. Is it snowing? It seemed like a good amount of precipitation (for October) but it looks like the snow levels were pretty high. Great deep pow, requires pretty steep terrain to stay on top, and there is still some stuff lurking below the surface. Anyone need a partner? November 23, 2010 at 12:31 am #629998 Ecobrad 2068 Posts Thanks for the PMs guys. Plans have changed, riding later in the week now. November 24, 2010 at 5:29 pm #630001 shoestring 197 Posts Only been out three times in North Tahoe so far…hiked Alpine Meadows twice and took a few laps at Castle Peak above the Grub Hut – Castle was before the storm and was still great – Alpine on Sunday was good up high but the bottom flat section killed me – way too deep! Anyway, will be getting the next few days so hope to post some TRs… November 25, 2010 at 3:18 am #630002 BGnight 1382 Posts Did one lap on West Shore today (too tired and run down from day before to do more :(). rughty and myself broke our own trail to our favorite tree run, but soon realized it’s a boulder field up high when it doesn’t have 15 feet of snow on it. Snow was amazing and turns were still great. Just can’t open it up yet in this area. Skintracks are in from below and from CP. Some windslabbage up high in the entranceways, but nothing observed moving in the runs. A small natural or two visible on south facing terrain terrain towards Stephens. November 26, 2010 at 5:48 pm #630005 Greenhorn 43 Posts Rode a couple laps around Silver Peak north of Squaw on Thanksgiving. Great snow on all the east and north east facing aspects. South aspects are starting to get sun affected and many of the ridges with any west or southwest exposure are completely scoured of snow from the wind. But some pretty amazing coverage for November, and it looks like the cold temps will allow the north and north east exposures to stay good for quite a while to come. Here’s my buddy topping out. November 27, 2010 at 4:14 am #630006 shoestring 197 Posts Did a couple of laps on Incline Lake Peak yesterday…obvioulsy lots of snow for November but Mt. Rose didn’t get as much as the West Shore so there is still a fair amount of boulders, shrubs, etc. Looks like more pow in the forecast for the weekend. Plan to get out at least once… November 29, 2010 at 12:14 am #630007 SanFrantastico 1514 Posts Awesome turns off Carson Pass on Friday. Zero cars in the roundtop parking lot at 9AM. WTF?!? Nice having the place to ourselves though. First turns of the season… pretty nice! Powderjunkie goes: Ecobrad: It was a very nice start to the season. We found heaps and heaps of blower on the west shore on Saturday but I left me camera in the pack because of the storm. Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. It’s worth reading. Viewing 20 posts - 1 through 20 (of 86 total) 1 2 … 5 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
