A carbon fiber highback and carbon stiffeners in the baseplate make it Karakoram’s stiffest and most responsive binding, which when combined with Karakoram’s signature, incredibly stable mounting system gives you the confidence necessary to charge faces that would normally require a solid snowboard to ride. It’s designed strictly for splitboarding and works exclusively with Karakoram’s clips and system for seamless performance. The lightweight baseplate connects to the board in ride mode through five attachment points to create a stiff connection and eliminate chatter and slop in the seam. This allows your board to ride like a solid setup so you can tap into terrain once thought too gnarly for shaky splitboards. Thanks to the separated plates on the ride mode interface and an open binding chassis, you can actually feel your board’s torsional flex beneath your feet, offering vast improvements in control and precision over traditional systems. Not only does the seamless design improve riding performance, but it also makes changing over from tour to ride mode and back insanely quick and easy. Instead of dealing with finicky pins and stubborn plates, the Carbon Straightline clips in to tour mode via freely-rotating axles that are integrated into the baseplate so you never have to worry about losing parts at the top. When you’re ready to ride down, just snap down the quick-release lever and the binding is locked into place. This same lever also allows you to lock your heel down in touring mode for icy traverses and long skates. Carbon stiffeners in the baseplate improve response for unmatched control and precision, and it’s made with CNC-machined alloy to keep it as lightweight as possible without compromising strength.
