• Oh… They have plastic inner edges. And a “swallowtail” closed heart anchor. Won’t work in Swiss snow. Even the best pow days are far away from fluffy Utha snow.

  • No way I could ride a Storm Chaser or any other men’s short fat. I’ve small feet and hardly weight. The board would ride me (I’ve owned a 158 Flagship, tried a men’s Hovy and Swift… been there, doesn’t work)

But thanks for the hint on the Pallas. Looks very intriguing! Didn’t know that one.

  • I’m searching for a surfy pow oriented split.

I so far use the Jones Solution which I love for high alpine in uncertain conditions with crusts etc. but for the nice deep days, I’d love to have an other, bit more surfy option. More setback, short tail, bit taper, big nose.

Anyone know of such a women’s model? (Men’s boards are no option as I…[Read more]

  • Hmmm… are the liners water resistant? (Sorry, may be a dumb question… I’m a noob to AT boots). I have the CL liner, btw, and haven’t done any hole mods to the shell yet.

My feet were wet that day… however, we had hip deep snow that day when I recognized the leaking, and I could be that my feet run hot from all the wading through that very…[Read more]

  • A follow-up question considering the TLT6: how does one avoid that snow leaks into the shell?
Was walking around in deep snow (boot in walk mode) and got a lot of snow entering into the shell, and thus the liner got soaked. The gaitor of the pants protects the boot leg, but in walking mode, the shell has clefts between the tongue and lower…[Read more]

  • Hahaha, guilty as charged, I like nice gear.
Can’t serve with fancy tricks though, I’m only proficient with the flying squirrel ;).

  • Thanks for the hint! Looks like a good kit. Gonna keep it in mind.
I’m lucky that the boot fits like a firm glove: I don’t have any heel lift. I’ve rather high arches anyway, and use two pairs of insoles (a carbon one to get a firm bottom+ a custom orthopedic one; old history of splay feet n nerve pain n numb feet; those insoles alow me to hike…[Read more]

  • I thought I create a new thread to make it easier for other girls to find potential solutions. I had been very reluctant to make the step and get an AT set-up cos I was insecure if I could do the mods… spoiler: that reluctance was unnecessary 🙂

Got my first pair of AT boots (combined with Phantom/Dynafit bindings), and the first unmodified…[Read more]

Got my first pair of AT boots (combined with Phantom/Dynafit bindings), and the first unmodified tour was pretty awful.

Problem no 1: tremendous calve bite. The boot is designed for skiers which rarely lean backwards. The upper hind rim is high…[Read more]

Do you have a picture of this?
Did she mod the fwd lean first to decreas it but this still didn’t help with the calve pinch?

Thanks! To be sure I understand this correctly: you filed the lower part of the plate, correct? There’s almost no spare material to file off on my plate – only upwards would be spare aluminium. Downwards, there’s only abt 3mm aluminium till the screw, but the existing hole is on the same level as the plastig i.e. I’d have to file away also…[Read more]

    Hi guys
I’m new to AT boot splitboarding, got the new TLT6 with Phantoms/Dynafit bindings and did the first tour with them today. Mixed feelings… ascent was simply brilliant; it’s night and day. So I really would like to love this AT system, but… the downhill was pretty painful. Felt like a bench vice trying to crush shins n calves… I…[Read more]
