Mr_Orange replied to the topic Question about sealing inner walls with epoxy. How thick should i lay it on? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 2 months ago Sounds good. This way my epoxy is almost used as bondo. How thick should i lay it on? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 2 months ago I just put on the 2 coast of epoxy and did one pass of sanding with 120 grit. I ran into an issue somewhat related to my initial concern. Because i added in graphite powder, the epoxy i used is black. Therefore, after some quick passes (about 10) of sanding, i can easily see that some areas of the black epoxy have been fully sanded away…[Read more] Mr_Orange replied to the topic Question about sealing inner walls with epoxy. How thick should i lay it on? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 4 months ago Thanks for the tip. I already ordered all my epoxy a month ago. Did a little more research into it and it seems like wood does absorb some of the epoxy. I think i’m going to just do some very minimal sanding (0.5 mm) off each wall first and then put on the epoxy. This should put me back right where i was. The cross bars seem to have about 4mm…[Read more] Mr_Orange replied to the topic Question about sealing inner walls with epoxy. How thick should i lay it on? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 4 months ago Thanks for the info. Ya, i actually screwed up on 2 holes on the rear. I think im going to have to plug them up with some short set screws to bring back some rigidity and close off the ends with epoxy. Mr_Orange replied to the topic Question about sealing inner walls with epoxy. How thick should i lay it on? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 4 months ago Oh and by the way, this is the epoxy protocol i’m following. Did some reading on these forums and this one seems like a pretty thorough process: Mr_Orange started the topic Question about sealing inner walls with epoxy. How thick should i lay it on? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 4 months ago Hi, i just did a DIY split on a furberg 160. When sealing the inner walls with epoxy, how is this supposed to work? 1) Do you actually pile on a thick protective coating layer (0.5mm to 1mm thick)? 2) or does the epoxy actually penetrate and alter the wood itself? The reason i ask is because i might have screwed up my order of operations. I…[Read more] Mr_Orange replied to the topic Liners for Hardboots in the forum Boots 3 years ago Same pair of zip fits 3rd year in a row. La Sportiva siderals. Ride every weekend. What's that supposed to mean? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 3 years, 1 month ago They seem to have only posted those numbers for that first year. Guess they thought it would be too confusing to interpret. Plus this isn’t primarily a groomer board. One of the thing’s i’ve been tyring this year is freecarving with stance angles at (+36f/+27r) on a few of my boards. Look up RAMA freecarve on youtube. The Furberg 160 (17/18…[Read more] Mr_Orange replied to the topic The new gun for the season in the forum DIY and Mods 3 years, 1 month ago For that nose extender you must’ve had to cut away at the existing nose a bit first. The nose on my board is already scooped up quite a bit. if you put an extender right on it, it would be pointing too much upwards. Mr_Orange started the topic Furberg effective edge measurement: 96/123 cm. What's that supposed to mean? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 3 years, 1 month ago I was trying to look up effective edge measurements for furberg snowboards but only found them for older models: https://thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/furberg-the-freeride-snowboard-review-and-buying-advice/#other-product-details (under product specs) Why are there 2 numbers? How to compare width (waist) to that of normal boards? and new models? in the forum Splitboards 3 years, 8 months ago I’m looking for a nimble tree riding board. Might have to try something narrower on that. Mr_Orange replied to the topic Reverse sidecut/taper in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 3 years, 8 months ago I always wondered if those full reverse cambered boards can even turn at all on hardpack? I’d always though you’d had to unstrap and walk once you reach hardpack. If i can at least make it back to the groomed lift areas, i’d be interested in getting one of those. Is riding hardpack on those things just not ideal or is it actually a challenging…[Read more] Mr_Orange replied to the topic Furberg. How to compare width (waist) to that of normal boards? and new models? in the forum Splitboards 3 years, 8 months ago What angle do you run on your back foot? that’s a narrow board width relative to your boot size. Are you soft or hard boots? Do you have boot out issues with deep carves or steeps? I was looking into this board called the donek nomad and considered downsizing my board width by 1 cm. 245mm waist (usual is 255). How to compare width (waist) to that of normal boards? and new models? in the forum Splitboards 3 years, 8 months ago There’s more discussion about Furberg’s effective edge here: http://splitboard.com/talk/topic/reverse-sidecuttaper/ It seems like the furberg effective edge is supposed to be shorter than a typical board of the same width. I actually ended up ordering the 160 freeride. After measuring more accurately, my current board (capita thunderstick157)…[Read more] Mr_Orange replied to the topic Furberg. How to compare width (waist) to that of normal boards? and new models? in the forum Splitboards 3 years, 8 months ago By the way, i noticed there were no effective edge measurements posted on the Furberg site. Im guessing that’s because the reverse sidecut makes it more vague as to where the effective edge begins/ends…? Am i wrong about this? Mr_Orange replied to the topic Furberg.
