I’m interested, I know that jefe guy’s gonna flake. They’re not even his size… PM sent. mofoco replied to the topic 2014 Oregon Splitfest in the forum Events 6 years, 10 months ago Chronic, good work on the stone shelter. We were up there on Sunday. That sucker’s filled to the brim with snow, minus the blocks from that wall you built. I’m leaving the keg sled at home this time. I measured a little over a mile of booting from the snow to the parking lot. Strap your board to your pack and don’t put it back on until you’re…[Read more] mofoco replied to the topic Why Can’t I Skate Ski? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 1 month ago It _seems_ like I can skate a bit easier with the board split into skis, and the sides not swapped. That is to say, straight edges on the inside. The AT boots probably help with the edging, too. I think kick skins of some sort would probably be the best. See the thread about DIY “waxless” ski scales on splitboards for more ideas. mofoco replied to the topic Bend area splitter on Hydroflask site? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 1 month ago Pete Alport has some great shots on there for sure. Lots of early season splitboard action. I like this one down on Sparks, with S. Sister and Broken Top way off. mofoco replied to the topic Bend area splitter on Hydroflask site? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 1 month ago Looks like it’s a real photo, but it’s been flipped 180. The cone slopes the other way, and the sun looks like he’s riding at dawn. That was messing with the ol’ head. What kind of splitboarder gets that high at sunrise anyways? mofoco replied to the topic Comprehensive guide to hard boot splitboarding? in the forum Boots 7 years, 1 month ago If you’re no hardbootin’ baller like Jefe, there are cheaper options. I’m riding Scarpa Matrixs with Intuition thermo liners that I scored on Ebay for under $200 shipped. Add some $55 Voile Mtn. Plates and you’re good to go. I haven’t modded my old Burton race plates as I like to think I’ll someday use them and my alpine board setup to achieve…[Read more] mofoco replied to the topic Eastern Oregon Powder in the forum Trip Reports 7 years, 1 month ago Great pics, looks like fun. Really like the pic where the clouds are lifting right in line with the far ridgeline and you can _almost_ see out into the sunny plains. mofoco replied to the topic Southern Oregon in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 1 month ago Don’t forget about Mt. Bailey right across Diamond Lake from Thielsen. There’s a snowmobile road to the top, and Cat Ski Mt. Bailey runs a snowcat up there during the winter. Might be a fun, but $pendy option if you’re road-tripping and the conditions are right. The skinning’s good, too. Bend’s not much further away, tons to ride there. Just…[Read more] mofoco replied to the topic PDX Splitters unite! in the forum Split Partners Wanted 7 years, 1 month ago We need to do a Chocolate Falls spring ski weekend this year. Almost too easy… http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1373&highlight=scales+fish “So taking the first steps in getting rid of the skins I took the router to the bases of my first skis. I took a measurement from some “guide” skis and found that the base was patterened 7″ in front of pin and 14″ behind. The Skintec strips are produced by a Swiss…[Read more] mofoco replied to the topic Waxless Base Splitboard in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 2 months ago I was just XC skiing this weekend, and had the same thought. I think someone just needs to do it. No doubt there’s not a whole lot of a market for it right now, but as splitboarding keeps evolving, the masses will demand a fishscaled board for their splitboard randonee setups… Can’t believe there are 60+ splitboard models for sale this…[Read more] mofoco replied to the topic PSA, Voile giving away free swag(mag) in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 3 months ago Guess what showed up in the mail last night? Great looking mag, thanks for the heads up! mofoco replied to the topic Col Tex Tensioners as Tail Clips? in the forum DIY and Mods 7 years, 3 months ago I liked the way mine worked on my BCA skins that I custom cut for a split. The BCA tensioner looks really similar. There are lots of ways to hold the tails on, from free to $$$. Voile used to recommend just cutting the skins at the back contact point and not using anything. You can also just do the piece of elastic cord tail clip. CHEAP! They got me into the idea of hardboots. Switched up to some Scarpa Matrix’s that I scored with Intuition moldable liners. Also cheap ($150, shipped, NEW!…). I took off the power strap and that’s it so far. Nice and light boots.
