You guys are addressing my exact frustration!!

It is time for the boot manufacturers to step up their game. Why is there no soft boot out there with a truly pivoting shaft read: a riveted rotation point.

It can’t be that hard to combine the knowledge of soft boot AND mountaineering boot design into a capable soft boot.

    Anyway my 2 cents.

  • Without drilling new holes in the highbacks that will not work.

Did you ever look at where the highback pivot point of burton bindings is located at?

Ride highbacks would be my best guess.

  • I ALWAYS mount my pucks on the split as far towards the toe side as possible, you acchieve thia by flipping the single slot disc of the 2 Voilé pucks accordingly. I then center the boot by pulling the heelcup back. I am size 9 in Burtons, could probably go to 8 3/4 (?) in my adidas. My Pivot is under my big toe.

On my first DIY Split I went…[Read more]

  • Since I destroyed my 15+ year old telescopic poles I’m in the market for new ones. I used to be a true believer in telescopes on the outside of my pack, my Mammut airbag pack 22 liters can get full on changing temp days.

My question how fiddly is it to mount collapsible poles on the outside of the pack when there’s no space to put them…[Read more]

  • Just to give you an update of my trip.

    First off JAPOW is amazing!!

I might have been a little late in the season, but it was all worth it. For any climbs for 1h or longer the split definitely still rules. BUT on one day all the upper lifts were closed due to wind, so what did we do? we just went into the woods basically around the corner of our…[Read more]

  • Hi all,

I will be flying to Niseko Feb 23rd to March 10. 🙂

Now for really deep blower POW what does everyone here recommend?

Stick with the split (160 Hovercraft), add modified Snowshoes? I have already modded my TSL snowshoes, to accept my Spark bindings, solid pucks for the Jones Mind Expander are also present.

Depending on total weight I…[Read more]

Ever since thr introduction of t he pinless bindings, I will not get the hype around it. It is not that I do not like it, but the only thing that I really find time consuming and perhaps annoying during swap over is the removal and applying of the skins, the pins never bothered me at all.

  • I’m sure most of you have already heard:

    R.I.P. Noah Salasnek, 1970 – 2017

One of the pioneers has left us. I wish him eternal POW.

  • I personally like the voilé hooks better, I find the transition smoother. Also the overlap left to right is longer than the Karakram hooks. Ialso just got one of these:

    for 15€ at Fame Boardshop.

    Split Stabilizer

    I haven’t tested it yet.

I finally got out on my Hovercraft. This board ROCKS!!

I got a good deal on last season’s model and am not regretting it a bit. This board is a blast from the first turn and litrally unsinkable, the hype is true!

Only thing is the base seem kind of soft, I had one not so major stone contact, and it went straight to the graphics.

    Otherwise…[Read more]

  • Thanks summerisgone,

I was mostly worried about tree maneuverability. I really like how my short (151) Derby performed there. 162 has been my goto length all my snowboarding life since 1989. I was recently a bit disappointed in my K2 Panoramic in that respect only. Of course that was late season sierra cement, but still.

So that is what it will…[Read more]

I sure dig the channel canted pucks on the Fish. But that will not be the deciding factor .

  • Hi all,

I just pulled the trigger on a Burton Split Fish156, and am wondering if I should return it for a 2016 Hovercraft Split for about $120 more. On top of that I weigh in at 180lbs, so probable 200+ with all gear. According to the Jones site i am just at the max weight recommendation for the 156. I’d like a nimble board for trees in Norway…[Read more]
