    Solid input guys.

We’ve got 3 in our group that are in for sure and 1 or 2 that would prob also join, so I think we’ll be a full group of 4 or 5.

I think we’ve got basically two options:
1 – AK heli, Executive Ski Bum deal looks like a pretty solid option for almost a week of heli at less than $4k http://www.alaskaheliskiing.com/rates-and-reservations

    2 – heli/tour combo:
Either Valdez Heli Touring or AK Ski Mountaineering Course. About $2000 less but probably not nearly the vert. Definitely a good option, especially if the weather window during our week isn’t ideal. http://www.pacificalpineguides.com/skiing/alaska/valdez-heli-touring and http://www.peakmountainguides.com/Alaskaskiing.html

I’m leaning toward AK Heli. Seandog, Tom Burt, Haines, legendary outfit at a good price.

Jerk – I would love to make a trip down to the eastside. Will def be on the list for this spring.

Snowsavage – I’m glad we’re on the same page. Snow will be stacking up soon and we’ll all have to make decisions in the mountains. I plan to ride another 1000+ days in my life and I remind myself of that every time I consider dropping into a big line.

    Pray for snow!

That looks like such an amazing place.

Stoke is high, is it winter yet?

    Just booked flights!
We’ll be down Aug 23 – Sep 6th, flying into Buenos Aires.

I think our main goal is Bariloche and area mountains, but we haven’t booked any hostels, gonna follow the snow. Stoke is high!

Wow, that was sick. I like your go-light alpine approach and have now added ‘straw’ to my packing list. I feel like I’m going to see everyone in the mountains with a straw from this point forward.

Great video edit. I’m wondering if this whole area is melted out or if there’s any riding left to be done down there.

To clarify, it is set slightly behind the middle of the board. The bolts are all way far back.
20″ tip to center of front foot
    22″ between feet
18.5″ center of back foot to tail

slight duck stance, 12 in the front, -9 in the back

Yeah it does look funny in that picture doesn’t it. I’m out of town, when I get back I’ll check out the stance and angles.

    Rad trip!

That’s an area I was hoping to explore but haven’t at all this year.
I imagine it only has a few weeks left..

If you fly into Buenos Aires, here’s charter flight info from there to Las Lenas. I don’t know price yet.
    – Departing flight leaves Buenos Aires at 6:30 AM on Saturday, August 30; arrives in Malargue at 8:40 AM
    – Return flight departs Malargue at 9:20 AM on Saturday, September 6; arrives in Buenos Aires at 11 AM

I’m planning Argentina or Chile sometime around Aug 23rd – Sep 6th. Most info online seems sparse and half written in spanglish so I’m having some trouble nailing down specifics. It seems like a lot of resorts only offer “ski week,” an all inclusive week of lodging, food and riding. I would prefer a flexible schedule that could accommodate some resort, touring and maybe cat (if the price is right). I’ll also be with the GF. RIght now we’re leaning toward Las Lenas, Argentina.

Here’s some links I’ve found helpful:

Wow! Really glad you all came out alive!

What was the avy danger rating that day? Did you observe any other slides or just the cracks?

I’d be interested in your reflection back on the slide and what lead to your decisions. Thanks for sharing what you have, I imagine the entire thing has been difficult.

This is an old thread, but I need to add something. My GF has G3 skins from 2 years ago. She’s used them 8 times, and after about the 3rd use the glue has been a nightmare. It always sticks to the board and more and more is ruining the descent. I have to clean the board every time we use them.

The skins have been stored in the same place as my Coltex skins the entire time and I’ve never had a problem. In fact I have probably 5-10 X number of days on them with no issue.

G3 told us to re-glue the skins but that seems like it will take time and money. Anyone solve this problem? Is it unique to just G3 skins?

Has anyone ever gotten on the alta lifts in split/tour mode and then assembled and ridden down in board mode?

I would really enjoy seeing some snowboarding at alta this winter, especially with all the attention these blue blood, old school, elitists are getting.

Maybe a coordinated split board attack on alta?

    Awesome. In, assuming there’s snow.

Actually if there’s no snow I’ll have nothing better to do, so yeah, in.

What a surprise.. Liz found a way to get mixed up in some deep pow and whiskey in Revy. total shocker.

Just ’cause there’s no snow home doesn’t mean you can’t hit the road. Keep it up Liz!!
and keep doing your snow dance
